Whether you're looking for single serve coffee, whole bean coffee, or cold brew concentrate and kits, we have what you need. Our story began when Ragan & Christi got married in their sophomore year at Texas State and both graduated with degrees in Marketing. Ragan, a former commodities trader, began roasting coffee almost by accident after moving to Brenham, Texas, where Christi opened a small coffee shop. Together, they started roasting coffee in their garage and have since seen tremendous growth, with the opening of Black Truck '48 Coffee & Tea Market and receiving numerous awards.

Our small roastery ensures our coffees are measured up to high standards and packaged fresh. We have a hands-on approach, packaging our coffee only hours after roasting and delivering to our customers the same day. We're on a mission to create a passionate community of coffee and tea enthusiasts by providing high quality hand-roasted and packaged 'world' coffees while honoring traditional roasting and blending methods.

Independence has three skilled roasters on staff, ensuring consistency in every batch of coffee we roast. Our 'Independence Roast' uses time and temperature to guide each roast through several stages, creating a deep-roasted flavor. Our commitment to lasting freshness means our coffees have a one-year expiration date and are individually wrapped and flushed with nitrogen.

But we're not just about great coffee - we give back to our community. Through partnerships with Baylor University and Brenham High School, we fund preservation and maintenance projects and support special needs programs. Additionally, our signature flavored selection of coffee supports the Boys & Girls Club of Washington County.
